Regulars passing by happily greeted him through the glass, and this is the shop that realized the future he once imagined.

We spoke with Mr. Kagita, owner of "STAG CLUB," who made his dream come true in his beloved hometown.

■What made you decide to become a barber?

It was a comment from my career guidance teacher.
I used to cut my own hair when I was in high school.


■That's amazing.

Then my friends in my club started asking me to cut their hair, too, so I started borrowing the science lab from my advisor to cut their hair.
I was happy that everyone praised me and was pleased with my work.
At that time, like "I don't need this hair....I was only cutting hair by feel.
Then, in my senior year of high school, my teacher told me that it would be great if I could make it my career.
That was when I was 18 years old.

■Just like that, this customer is also a friend! How do you feel about being cut?

Yes, we have been friends since junior high school.
To be honest, I've never felt like I've been cut. (Laughs)
That's how comfortable it feels to have my hair cut.


■That's how you became a barber.
Please tell us about your first encounter with Naruto scissors.

Before I made my debut, a salon owner whom I respected recommended to me that I should get a pair of scissors from Naruto Scissors.
I bought them without even trying them out. I thought, "Well, they are expensive, so there must be something to them! I thought. (Laughs)
I had saved up money for scissors.

These have been with me since my debut.
Even though the comb is fine, hair pass through the comb easily.
It is great to use for texture adjustment, hair volume adjustment, and blurring of cutting line.
They are an amazing pair of thinning scissors that I can feel the craftsmanship.

I bought these mini scissors with the intention of using it for point cutting, but now I am using it luxuriously for eyebrow cutting for my clients.
It's a good cut, so I get a beautiful finish.

I bought these for the opening of my salon and the beginning of the second stage.
They have a long blade and works fast.
Now I use these as my main scissors for creating basic shape, point cutting, and scissor over comb and detailing. I like long scissors.


■How do you feel about using Naruto scissors?

The cutting scissors are just so sharp. It makes clients’ hair fresh after cutting.
The style lasts well.
I once cut my own hand, but it was so clean that I didn't even notice it was cut, and it healed quickly! (Laughs)
Actually, I especially like thinning scissors. It's smooth and doesn't pull on hair at all.
And it cuts very long. I have only sent it in for factory maintenance once.
It's also very easy to maintain by myself.


■What has been the most memorable moment in your life as a barber?

I was asked to cut the hair of a client who had been given a life expectancy diagnosis at the age of 20, at a very important time before his wedding. He had lost his hair due to treatment and was wearing a beautiful wig, but he wanted me to cut the wig.
Until then, I honestly didn't know if I was doing enough to help people.
It was the first job that made me realize that I had been a part of something important in the customer's life and that I could be of some real help.

What is important to customers is their life after getting their hair cut.
Sometimes, hair can make you feel confident and change your life.
I want to continue to be a barber who can be a part of my customers' lives.
