My Story With NARUTOSCISSORS | CHERIE hair design Yuta Kimura

Tenjin, Fukuoka City, is Kyushu's largest downtown area.
It's famous as a business district, but also a popular tourist area with good access from Fukuoka Airport.
This time, we'd like to introduce Mr. Kimura, the owner of CHERIE hair design, who made his dream of owning a salon in Tenjin a reality!
■ Mr. Kimura, we hear you've been a hairdresser for 21 years.
Were you familiar with Naruto scissors early on?
When I was an assistant, I saw them in industry magazines and saw my seniors using them, and I admired them thinking, "What cool scissors!"
But with my salary at the time, I couldn't possibly buy them...
I thought, "Someday, when I become a successful hairdresser, I definitely want to buy them!"
■And you finally got your first pair four years ago?
Yes! What initially drew me in was how beautiful they looked.
But once I started using them, the cutting performance absolutely blew me away.
Up to that point, I had used scissors from many different brands — probably around 40 pairs in total.
■ 40 pairs!
Yes — but Naruto Scissors gave me a completely new sensation.
They cut cleanly with just a light open-and-close motion.
I felt they were scissors that could make precise cuts without even a 1mm deviation.
■ Since then, you've been using multiple pairs.
That’s right — I currently use four pairs (from left to right in the photo):
・DuckboardZKarakusa
・3sukiBranche *Discontinued
・GilvyZKarakusa GP
・4sukiBranche *GP processing, Discontinued
■ You’ve chosen designs with Karakusa and wood grain finishes — very elegant, especially with jewel inlays and gold plating.
Their ease of use is, of course, a key feature, but I think this aesthetic beauty is also a characteristic of Naruto scissors.
■ Which pair do you use the most?
Definitely the DuckboardZKarakusa.
It’s super versatile and easy to maneuver.
I use it for everything from soft-textured layered styles to scissor over comb.
It fits my hand better than any other scissors I’ve used, and I don’t get hand fatigue as easily.
Since I started using it, I’ve also had fewer issues with tendonitis.
■ That’s the kind of feedback we’re honored to hear.
I’m 42 now, and as long as my hands can move, I want to keep working behind the chair.
Naruto Scissors are incredibly gentle on the hands — they’ve really helped me stay in the game.
I’d love to see new handle engravings or decorative options in the future.
Please keep making the best scissors to support the most important tool hairstylists have — our hands.
■ Can you share a bit about your journey as a stylist? Any moments that really stand out?
Ever since I was in high school, my dream was to open my own salon in Tenjin.
I made that dream come true at 29, and I also hit the sales targets I’d always aimed for as a stylist.
■ That's wonderful.
Now, my new dream is to support my team — helping them reach their own personal goals, just like I did.
■Any episodes involving Naruto Scissors during your day-to-day salon work?
Yes, actually.
Our salon specializes in both high-design cuts and bold, high-tone colors.
We get a lot of clients doing bleach and other intense services, so minimizing hair damage is super important.
Some scissors can actually damage hair just through cutting.
But since switching to Naruto Scissors, I’ve seen a real improvement in my clients’ hair condition — and they’ve noticed it too.
